Dr. Nicholas Wright

Short Biography

Nick was born in Guildford on 21 September 1983. When he was 18 he went to

the University of Nottingham to study Electronics with industrial control

engineering for 2 years. However he transferred to Surrey University in 2004 to

finish his degree so he could be closer to his wife, Charlotte and new-born

daughter, Lauren.

He was awarded his First class degree in electronics in 2006 and he was also

the top home student in the year.

In 2006 he started a PhD with the supervision of Graham Reed into the

possibility of a silicon based Raman laser.

Research Interests

Silicon photonics, defect engineering, TEM analysis and femtosecond lasers.
