Mr. Renzo Loiacono
Short Biography
I have been a hardworking and disciplined student since I was 6 and I obtained excellent
results during my university education, graduating with a top performance in the shortest
time possible. I am currently involved in a Ph.D. program at University of Surrey, which is
jointly funded by IeMRC and Intel Corporation. My current research work fits in the
broader area of Silicon Photonics, with the aim of developing future integrated photonic
devices for ultrafast computing and communications. I enjoying taking challenges and
always setting higher goals, bringing my capabilities to the next level, and developing a
clear understanding of my strengths and limitations. I enjoy teamwork, especially with
more experienced people, as this motivates me to improve further. Nonetheless, I am
also used to work individually with a high degree of freedom and creativity. This is highly
required for my current research activity. I am a good communicator and I enjoy interacting constructively in a
team towards a common goal. I am a good problem solver, I manage effectively my time and personal
resources and I believe that good planning is a key aspect of any project.
